Guilty myself of making loads of excuses for why my burdens were preventing me from achieving my fitness goals.
I used to be a snack smuggling chubby kid. Then when I was eleven I got double pneumonia and got super skinny.
I remember being so weak that going to get x-rays of my lungs exhausted me so much that I couldn’t even move or talk to get the attention of my mom who was standing right next to my gurney. She thought I was patiently lying there but I was freaking out because I couldn’t move!
Well, luckily I survived that and got better.
So much better that years later while attending UCLA I was able to compete in a local teenage bodybuilding show, placed third and won two trophies.
I was feeling great but then I got another huge setback…
While I was squatting I lost my form and the guy who was spotting me couldn’t help so I twisted carrying 265 pounds on top of my back!
I stumbled onto a mat but when I tried to get up nothing happened. My back was in such terrible spasm I couldn’t get up!
I had flashbacks of my bout with pneumonia but this time I was making a choice not to ask for help even though there were dozens of people milling around the gym.
Over an hour later, I was able to screw up enough determination to get up and limp back to my student apartment.
The next few years are hazy. I never let on to my family or friends how bad the injury really was. I thought I was done training for good. I just pretended and told everybody that I was concentrating on my studies and didn’t have time to train anymore but I was dying inside.
So I do what brainiacs do, I researched physical therapy techniques and got somewhat better but what it really did was catapult me towards a career in physical therapy.
I was fortunate enough to get a great “hands on” job right out of college. I learned from some great healers, all who were very knowledgeable, passionate and aggressive in their healing techniques.
They just didn’t want to make a quick buck off insurance: they wanted to fix the hard cases… and They Did!

I really valued the 10 years I spent in the physical therapy/health care industry but I also wanted to experience training athletes and help people lose weight and gain a long term healthy, pain free, disease resistant future.
So I went out on my own…
…two weeks after September 11th, 2001…

Why we use some Fitness Boot Camp Techniques but are not a limited Boot Camp program
" Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to bad mouth personal trainers in Long Beach or Boot Camps in Signal Hill. They do work for some people. They just are not the choices my clients have ever preferred on a long term, successful basis.
Boot Camps in Signal Hill or Long Beach operate as large group classes that meet at very specific times only two or three times throughout the day. My clients who have tried these Signal Hill and Long Beach Boot Camps just feel they get lost in the crowd and miss too many classes due to work, kids, etc."
"It would drive me crazy if I had a client that was on a roll with their weight loss program and had to miss one or two sessions a week because no matter what they tried, they couldn't juggle their day to fit a meager Fitness Boot Camp schedule.
